Ferrando Children’s Home

Ferrando Integrated Women Development Centre is an organization run by the missionary sisters of Mary Help of Christians, an indigenous congregation founded in North East in 1942, with the purpose of catering services to the most vulnerable women, girls and children in the society. FIWDC Peace Home has treatment cum Rehabilitation Centre for women drugs user, alcoholics and commercial sex workers. It also runs a vocational and training Centre to provide livelihood option and opportunities of the unemployed women and young girls.

In the year 2008, the organization began to face lots of problems with regard to the children of the mentioned target groups. The experienced was that most of the mothers and girls who are addicted often come for treatment with their children. Furthermore many children were left behind at home with no one to care for them. As result there was felt need to start Ferrando Children’s Training Centre at Lengpui with the intension of providing quality educational care and nutritional support to the neediest children especially the HIV infected and affected ones as well as other orphaned children. In 2011 there were about 20 children at Lengpui benefiting the services. However, the stay at Lengpui was inconvenient and the children were not enjoying good health due to the hot climatic condition. Therefore in 2012 the children’s Centre at Lengpui was shifted to FIWDC Peace Home,Durtlang ,Aizawl Mizoram. In 2013 the children’s home was registered under Juvenile Justice(Care and Protection of Children) Admendment Act 2006 with the certified registration No. 30 of 2010/GOM/SWD  issued on 2nd April 2013(renewel-29 of 2016/GOM/SWD Issued on  14.06.2016)in the name of Ferrando Children’s Home.

Believing in the beauty and the preciousness of every child and knowing that every child has a right to be loved and live as well as a right to belong to a family and grow with love, respect and security; the Ferrando Children’s Home therefore came into its existence with a vision of creating a safe haven and giving fullness of life to the most unloved and unwanted children.
